The 72 th anniversary of the poet's death attracted dozens of fans to his grave in the French town of Collioure

Dozens of people gathered at the tomb to mark the 72 th anniversary of the death of the author of Campos de Castilla, which occurred on February 22, 1939, just weeks after he left Spain penniless, sick and accompanied by some relatives.

An association of residents of Barcelona also traveled to the coastal town to pay homage to the poet.
Among the events organized to commemorate Machado Collioure included a lecture by Carlos Martínez Shaw, a professor at the UNED, Machado on routes, which start in Seville and lead to the French town, and another Verónica Sierra, professor University of Alcalá de Henares, the creator of cataloging and creation Words fund over time, a file which includes all the letters sent by mail or deposited with Machado's grave. These documents will be available from now in the municipal archives of Collioure.
